Kingwood Christian finished the 2017 season with a disappointing 1-10 record. With their 1-4 region record and a sixth place finish in Class AA region one, the Lions earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Kingwood Christian's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Autauga Academy by a score of 49-6. The Lions lost as many games as in any season since 2003. The Lions would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 3-19 record. Since 2010, Kingwood Christian has gone a combined 32-55. Their 37.0% winning percentage ranks 10th in Class AAA over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Kingwood Christian has managed to compile a record of 95-155. Their 38.0% winning percentage ranks 10th in Class AAA and 31st in the AISA. The Lions are led by head coach Todd Bradford who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 1-10 record in his first season at Kingwood Christian. Under his direction the Lions have qualified for the playoffs once. Last year the Evangel Christian Alabaster Lightning finished with an overall record of 9-2 and in place in Class 8 Man region one. The Lightning won the Class 8 Man State Championship last season when they defeated Ezekiel Academy by a score of 55-14 in Troy. Kingwood Christian and Evangel Christian Alabaster have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Lions have a 1-1-0 record against the Lightning.
